An established litigation practice is seeking an Associate Attorney to handle personal-injury and wrongful-death matters involving asbestos and/or silicosis exposure. The role includes client representation, deposition work, legal research, drafting, discovery, and case management. Work is performed in-office and at scheduled appearances.
Key Responsibilities:
* Attend and defend plaintiff depositions, including frequent travel within California and occasional out-of-state travel
* Prepare clients for depositions; review and evaluate documents for privilege and responsiveness
* Assess defendants post-deposition, recommend additions/dismissals, and prepare deposition summaries
* Manage discovery, evaluate each assignment, prepare responses, and negotiate dismissals when appropriate
* Draft and oppose motions for summary judgment, including case evaluation and timely submission for review
* Oversee assigned cases, develop discovery plans, meet regularly with supervising attorneys, and handle discovery disputes
* Prepare motions to compel, respond to witness notices, and coordinate with paralegals, clients, and witnesses
* Participate in office meetings and training; maintain required skills, continuing education, and communication standards
Qualifications:
* J.D. and active California Bar membership
* 4-5 years of civil litigation experience
* Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
